I thought I’d do a quick blog post  to recognize some of my favorite and most inspirational teachers so far in my journey of life.

Personal Angels

There have been many individuals who have entered my life albeit briefly who have had a dramatic impact upon it. These are my personal angels sent to me through divine intervention to bring to me a message or push in a certain direction. I believe in these kind of angels that live on the ground disguised as you and me. The people who for some strange and unknown reason appear in your life and disappear just as quickly yet leave a deep and lasting impression tp help to change the direction of your life.

My personal angels can’t help you but you need to be aware and watchful for when your personal angels enter into your life to have a deep and lasting impact on you.

Dr Wayne Dyer

Wayne Dyer

Often referred to as the ‘father of motivation’. Wayne Dyer has inspired me to search for meaning in my life and to recognize my true purpose and to follow that path. My lessons learned from his spiritual wisdom have really placed me on my current path. He helped me to ask the right questions and how to listen for the answers.  His lessons on Taoism: The Way have helped me to recognize the peaceful path to life. Wayne speaks often about living from the flow of life- it is from this space that true inspiration and the perfection of life exists. He has inspired me to be inspired and to allow life to speak through me.

Yossi Ghinsberg

I cannot thYossi Ghinsberg- Inspriational teacherink of Yossi without tearing up. I had the pleasure of hanging on to his every word for 3 hours at a seminar in Puerto Rico.  Just being in his presence and feeling the divine energy that he emanated raised my vibrational levels to a much higher place. I still feel this whenever I hear his name and will continue to live off this forever. Here is a man of infinite wisdom about the meaning of life and how we are all interconnected. I love Yossi. His embrace was filled with such gentle warmth, love and acceptance. He is always there for me in my dark moments. I listen to his videos and his soft gentle voice immediately brings me back to what is important in life and how everything, no matter how bad, is actually so perfect. He inspires me to not be fearful but instead to serve life and it’s purpose.

Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela has taught me the power of forgiveness. His book ‘The Long Walk to Freedom’ tells an inspirational story of his courageous fight for freedom and the equality of all men. To hear how all he endured living 28 years in a cell just because he dreamed and fought for a better world to then walk away with total forgiveness and reconciliation in is heart, makes me believe in the greatness of man.  He inspires me to live with forgiveness and to strive to be a better person.

There are so many other wonderful teachers who have entered my life at the right moment and inspired me to live my best life. These are the 3 most influential in my life. These are the ones that when I hear their names I stop for a deep breath of divine recognition,  joy, love and  gratitude for the positive impact they have had on my life and for all they do to make this world such a beautiful place.

Lord Mahaveer

Lotus Position

If you asked anyone to describe what meditation looked like the majority of people would describe a person
as sitting in a candle lit room, hands in prayer style, eyes closed and repeating the ‘Om’ mantra. While this is indeed a technique to help you on the path to meditation, it is not the only road.

There is no right or wrong way to meditate. It is a very individual thing  and takes many shapes and forms. Meditation actually means paying attention. Paying attention to your world and paying attention to yourself and becoming more self aware as a result.  Any time you are completely focused on an activity and are completely present your are meditating. That means you can be meditating while reading, eating, painting, playing sport, running or listening to music. As long as you are totally present. See it is easy to meditate.

Some Meditation Tips to Get You Started

Breathing Room

Paying attention to your breath is meditation. Most of us take breathing for granted and tend even forget to breathe. Breathe is life and proper breathing then is critical to our healthy and vitality. Conscious breathing is a big part of meditation. You want to be aware of your breath, replacing short, shallow unconscious breath with calm, full deliberate breath.  Expand your abdomen and fill up your lungs. Anytime you focus on your breath and breathe deeply you are meditating. It can be done anywhere and will instantly relax you. Spend a few minutes every morning meditating your breath in this way.

Creating your Space

You can meditate anywhere, any time and in any way. It often isn’t as easy as this sounds though as many distractions will surround you. To begin with it’s easier to start meditating in a calm, quiet and peaceful place.  A comfortable, inviting tranquil place will help you to quieten your mind and get in touch with your self. Make the place an encouraging and inspiring retreat. This will help to keep you practicing and it will be a place you will long to return to.

Make sure your space is free from mess and clutter. Your mind needs a clear and clean area to keep it from being unsettled. Be sure to have all the equipment you’ll need such as a candle, CD player, pillows and anything else that will help you feel relaxed and comfortable.

Get comfortable

Wear something cozy when doing your meditation. You need to be comfortable. You don’t want to wear anything too loose or tight and it must suit the climate. The less outside distractions the better it will for you to find the quietness within. Sit in whatever fashion is most comfortable for you. You want to avoid lying down as it’s too easy to fall asleep. Use a pillow or cushioning if you need it.

I will be providing further meditation techniques for beginners over the next couple of days. For now,  get comfortable in your special space, relax and just focus on getting to know your breathe more.

How to Meditate for Beginners

Enjoy Happiness with silence

Meditation is something we’ve all heard about and have been curious to try but the majority of us completely freaked out by the whole idea of the experience. Be sure to watch this space as I’ll be writing several posts on the  importance of meditation in our lives with some simple strategies on how to meditate for beginners.

A couple of years ago, I kept hearing about the benefits of meditation and wanted to try but just didn’t think I could shut my brain off and be able to do it. I want on a mission to find out what exactly it was and how to do it and why meditate. What I discovered was an absolute beauty in silence. A place of pure peace and calm, light and love.  You learn to not control the chatter of your mind but to just let it pass without judgment or anxiety and there lies your freedom.

Meditation is a journey which brings you back to life. It teaches you how to slow down, clear your head and focus on the present. It helps us to let go of our attachments and irrelevant thoughts, outside distractions and get to know and value ourselves. Meditation  is known to reduce stress levels and improve health, through greater self awareness and poise. It also helps you to think more clearly and creatively.

I found a great quote about meditationIn silence lies the ability to listen; to listen to ourselves, to others and to God. Listening is a lost art. Without it we cannot communicate, we cannot relate to each other and so we cannot live life meaningfully. We need to learn to listen. Sitting in silence allows us to listen to ourselves and to understand. This silence can heal. The worries, the pain can be healed when we listen. Spiritual medicine is ever-present in the soul. Whenever we need it, to whatever extent we need it, we can find it within” Innerspace

We need to listen more as all the answers come from deep within ourselves. Meditation allows us to hear the answers to all our questions and prayers. It’s a time to escape the chaos of our lives and just be.  I don’t meditate as much as I would like and in my crazy hectic schedule I miss and crave the silence. It’s like a refreshing glass of ice cold water in the middle of the desert. It’s the space where I can go and know that everything is perfect.

The weather turned warm today (hooray!) so we took Kalyra to the park for a play. There’s a giant slide there that Kalyra really want to go down but for obvious reasons was a little afraid. We really encourage Kalyra to be brave and take risks but no amount of encouragement from us at the bottom of the slide was going to make her come down. It was just too far out of her comfort zone.

She wanted us to hold her hand but the slide was too high up for us to reach her. We didn’t want her to walk away and give up on something she really wanted to do because she was afraid. There really wasn’t any risk or danger involved and we were there to catch her at the bottom. She was just afraid and her fear was stopping her from experiencing a fun ride.

Plan B then was for me to go down with her on my lap. That way she could experience the fun of the ride and overcome her fear with a little help. When I got to the top to go down with her, she didn’t want that. All she wanted was just a little push to get her moving. Just a little push of confidence. So I encouraged her to let go, gave her a little push and off she went on a wild ride. She came up relieved, grinning and ready to go again. It wasn’t that scary after all; she had conquered her fear with just a little outside push.

When I was 21 I fearlessly decided to go bungy jumping. Now when you get up to the top of that tower and look down, fearless drops the ‘less’ and you literally can’t stand your legs shake so uncontrollably. If you could make them work you would be running back down those stairs and back to sanity. The coaches steer you to the edge and  say “I’m going to count to 3 and on my 3, you’ve got to jump” All you can do is nod as fear has your tongue. They then whisper into your ear “and if you don’t jump I’m going  to push you anyway, so there’s no turning back”. And that’s exactly what they do( in fact on my second jump they pushed me on 2).

See they know that you’re safe, they know that you came to the top for a crazy adventure and you’ll be disappointed if you quit. They know that the only thing getting in your way is fear and if they push you they’re just helping you overcome it and get what you came to get.

Sometimes the fear of starting something new overwhelms and paralyzes us. We can see what lies ahead and we know it’s going to be great fun. We really want to take the jump but the fear takes over our logical thinking and holds us back. As a result we miss out on the grand adventure. We may have people coaxing us and waiting at the end for a high five and to catch us ‘just in case’ but it’s not enough. Sometimes we just need someone or something else to push the fear away.

What slide of life are you standing at the top of now, looking down on in desire, but afraid to let go and enjoy? What do you see that adventure as being? What would it bring to your life if you just took the first slide? Is there really any life danger if you just went ahead and did it? Really? Anything to lose? or everything to gain? Why are you letting your fear hold you back?

Maybe it’s just an outside push you need to conquer the fear. Be careful… don’t wait around too long. Sometimes the push can come from unwanted sources; like an illness, financial devastation, a relationship break down or worse.

Here, how about I help you.. Ready…

1…2…. Push

Wahoooo!! Wasn’t that bad was it? Your new life awaits you, go enjoy it. You deserve it!

Craig and I know how to overcome fears and just do it. We’ve had an adventurous and fun life because of it and it just keeps getting better. Fill in your contact details to work with us directly so we can help push you to a new awakening! 1…2…3.. Jump!

Finding Love in Iran

January 17th, 2010 by Caz and Craig in Relationships, gratitude, inspiration, travel

A friend I made through Facebook made the video above on finding love in Tehran, Iran. I wanted to share it with you as it provides a fascinating insight into how others live.

There is so much in our lives that we take for granted. Here in the Western world it is so easy for us to go on dates and find love. You could meet your potential partner in a bar, at a cafe, the library, the park, the gym or scantily clad at the beach. Once you meet them you can talk about whatever you like, exchange phone numbers and off you go! In fact, by the time you get married you most likely have experienced a relationship with at least one other person. For some people around the world, this luxurious freedom- as we see it-, is not a part of their life. Finding a mate for life is a little more challenging as you’ll see in the video.

This is what I love so much about traveling the world; getting the opportunity to learn how other people live and appreciating what I have in my life. The world is so fascinating. It’s full of fascinating people and fascinating cultures. Other people’s ways of living are not better or worse, they’re just different. It’s through learning about them that we can come to this awareness and develop greater understanding, tolerance and compassion. This is the place where are more peaceful world exists.

Thanks so much to  Alessio for providing me with some inspiration this morning.

Living an inspirational life is the secret to success and happiness. This is the key to living a fulfilling life. There is no other answer. You don’t have to go searching any longer for the secrets to a happy life and the steps to follow in order to do so. You don’t have to take the courses and uncover your limiting beliefs or even unravel the secrets of the Universal Laws you just have to get inspired. This is the place of power. It is unstoppable and all you have to do is to understand this and tap into the power of inspiration.

This has been a topic of thought for me for some time. This is what has inspired Craig and I to do what we are now doing with Wake Up With Caz and Craig. As for us, living an inspired life is what life is all about. This is the place where pure magic and joy happens.Living an inspired life means living it on purpose and living life through the experience of  joy, and enthusiasm.

For me I believe there are two ways to be pushed to live a better life. You can be motivated or you can be inspired.

Let’s look at the definition of motivation as told by dictionary.com : To provide with an incentive; move to action; impel, to stimulate toward action; induce, move, provoke, prompt, cause;   a motivating force, stimulus, or influence

All these point to an external force pushing a person to reach for a reward or goal. Motivaton works but it’s the harder path and can be full of greater struggle; it’s less enjoyable and powerful. When you are motivated it means there is something from the outside pushing you. An external force of energy pushing you to be better. It might be a coach or a quote, a goal or a reward pushing you to change from the outside in. Motivating forces have too many variables. It’s too easy to forget them, to get sidetracked, overwhelmed or overtaken by other important issues or setbacks.

Let’s look at the definition of  inspiration as told by dictionary.com:   to guide or control by divine influence; to produce or arouse (a feeling, thought, etc; to fill with an animating, quickening, or exalting influence;   to infuse (breath, life, etc.)

All these point to the same thing: to fill yourself with life (divine influence) to control or guide you. In other words- pure power of movement as it comes from within.

Inspiration is something that comes from the inside. It’s the energy that comes from within you that propels you forward. It’s energy in it’s purest force. When you become inspired you move; you move with joy and with freedom and purpose. All the great achievements in life have been created through the inspiration. That creator became inspired and so moved and with that power and created magnificent things.

For example, let’s look at the writing of my blog posts. I can write a post through the motivation  to attract more readers and achieve my goals.  When I sit down to write from this point of view and from this motivating power, I find it very difficult. I stop, start, get stuck and frustrated. Words don’t flow for me and it could take me days to finish a post. It often needs lots of editing and rewriting.

When I get inspired to write, I’m on fire. The ideas come from deep within me and they just flow with divine power. My mind races quicker than I can type. I don’t have to think about what to write it just flows and fits together perfectly. I don’t have to do much editing and I always get the best response from people with my inspired posts. True power that can’t get sidetracked or be stopped.  Inspiration is the purest form of energy and power for creativity and change.

An inspired life means living full throttle. Experiencing life in all it’s flavors. It means livig life through the eyes and place of wonder, awe, enthusiasm, love, passion, joy, creativity and divine inspiration. It’s perfect energy; it is unstoppable energy.

How do I know this with such certainty?  Because I’ve lived both sides of the coin. For years I lived an inspired life and
operated totally through those amazing emotions. I always lived from a place of enthusiasm, passion and joy. I was in awe of everything. A sunset, a tree, a beautiful beach, a new and friendly face,a piece of history, a song that I would sing with passion. When I lived my life from this place I was in the total flow of life and magic always happened for me.

The other side. I stopped being inspired. Other emotions took over and I allowed myself to live from these places instead- fear, doubt, ingratitude and indecision.  I tried some motivating forces to change but couldn’t. I became stuck and wouldn’t move. I couldn’t figure out why. My questioning and searching led me to discover the truth of the matter- I stopped being inspired. I tried all the courses and self help books and mentors etc. I followed the Laws of Attraction and Universal Laws. They didn’t work for me because I was relying on motivation. It was not strong enough to move me. The problem was I was not being inspired. I knew how to do this but I stopped knowing it. I didn’t recognize that I had the answers. I instead looked elsewhere and tried to motivate myself to find the answers and get the results. I shut off from the inner, divine guidance that I always relied on to run my life perfectly.

Eckart Tolle discusses in ‘A New Earth’ that the highest forms of emotion that we should live our life from are enthusiasm and joy. If you are not living life from these emotions it does not matter how much you visualize, affirm and set goals, you are going to find your desired results a lot more difficult to obtain. It still works- absolutely but get in joy and enthusiasm and the river of life will flow abundantly and perfectly.

I’ve discovered the secret to a fulfilled life. And so now begins my inspired life round number 2: Passion, joy, enthusiasm and awe are back and life is so beautiful again. And now it is my mission to help inspire others because I know this is the most powerful force for change. It comes from the inside. It’s unstoppable energy.

Our mission with Wake up With Caz and Craig is to help you live an inspirational life. To help you tap into those feelings inside of you that get you moving. There are so many powerful ways to do this and that is what we aim to bring to you every morning. We aim to surround you with inspire you to move inside out:

  • Daily Quotes and messages to inspire you and give you the tools to start thinking about change and making it happen.
  • Constant reminders of how great you are, how powerful you are and how you were destined for a life of  significant purpose
  • Songs: music will inspire the most uninspired person. Music uplifts you and gets you in that place of joy and enthusiasm. That is why we have a song of the week. It’s chosen carefully. We play it every day to get you tapping into your inner energy and get you inspired to be great.
  • Fun: We’re going to be bringing the joy to you through our lives and through fun competitions and interactions. Just enjoy life; it’s fun.
  • Nature and travel: For us there is no greater place to get inspired. The beauty of nature  is the closest you will get to life; to the source of us all. This is the space of the creator. For 10 years I lived in total awe, because I spent so many of my days enjoying many magical and breathtaking moments in nature. We’ll be bringing it to you- messages from around the world on our travels.
  • Stories of others that will inspire you to greatness by their very inspired actions. We’ll be sharing stories with you of people who have inspired us around the world and also bring to you interviews with inspired people who are living an inspired life.
  • Interaction: We’re friendly and fun, full of enthusiasm and joy. We’ll infect you with this. We  love to meet new people and interact. We’re your friendly face. Someone who’ll welcome you in, give you a smile and remind you to be great, to be inspired and to have fun.

Living an inspired life means being guided by the inner divine in you; the place of perfection, beauty, strength and magic. Being inspired means saying “Yes” to life and living every moment in joy and awe for the beauty that it holds. Make your life a life worth living and get inspired. Your greatness is just beginning.

The answer to this is absolutely it is. Your life is significant enough to make a difference. Everyone’s life is. The most important question you need to ask is what sort of a difference am I going to make, a positive one or a negative? Because your actions are going to create one of the two.

The Butterfly Effect is a proven theory which shows that a butterfly can flap it’s wings in South America and have an effect on the weather in Central Park New York. This effect comes from the movement of the molecules of air through the flapping wings, which sets in forth a motion of moving molecules from one side of the planet to another. Now there is an actual scientific name to this theory but I’m not going to tell you it as you won’t remember it and the name is not important.

What is important and relevant to you is that this is a Natural Law of the Universe and if the butterfly could have this effect through motion will then couldn’t you? You see everything you do matters, as the ripple of it will be felt for years to come. How are you choosing to flap your wings?

When you know that everything matters, you begin to live a life of permanent purpose. You begin to decide to make a difference in a positive way. There are generations yet unborn whose very lives will be shifted and shaped by the moves you make and the actions you take today, and tomorrow and the next day.

Don’t think for a moment that your life is insignificant and you can’t make a difference. You can it’s all just a matter of flapping your wings the right way. You have been created as one of a kind. There will never be any one like you again. Your thoughts, your feelings, your talents and abilities and ways of looking at the world are unique. You have your own unique flap and you need to start flapping!

You have been created in order that you might make a difference. Your actions are so valuable to the planet for generations to come. Your life and what you do with it today matters forever. What are you going to choose to do with it? How are you going to start flapping those wings and creating a positive ripple effect?

Spend time thinking of how you can positively flap your wings to make a difference in the lives of the generations to come. They will feel your ripple, science proves that! List all the things you can begin to do today to start living a life of permanent purpose and make a difference.

In the meantime come and join us in our decision to make a difference to the lives of us. Become a part of our family and allow us to inspire you each day with positive words and empowering messages to encourage you to make a difference and live the life you totally deserve!

TVUYFEWXUNK3

At the moment on Facebook I am making a lot of awesome connections. People who are really stepping up to make a difference to their lives and those of others. Some of these connections are amazing. People who I’ve had one or two sentence conversations with often now take a second or two out of their busy lives to give me some positive praise and encouragement. Every time it blows me away at how this one small gift from others does so much for empowering me and giving me the confidence to move forward.

Now, I’ve caught that bug and I consciously look for opportunities during my Facebook time to throw an encouraging word or praise to someone, support them by joining their groups or fan pages and sharing their work. If I have the chance to write a testimonial for someone I’ll jump on it straight away. I love doing this as I know it assists in propelling a person toward the achievement of their goal. I feel great and I know the other person does to and now as a result I’m forming great connections with people who were virtual strangers.

It’s gotten me thinking about what a rare interaction this is. It’s such an easy, low cost thing to do yet not many people choose to do it. Mostly they ignore what others are doing or say something negative instead. It feels so shocking to me now when I witness it. I can’t understand why people choose to dis-empower rather than empower.

Let’s look at the word- empower- it means give power to someone. Giving power to someone doesn’t mean that I’m taking it away from myself. In the giving of the power to others, more of that power comes straight back to me. Taking the power away from others through lack of support or negative words kills people’s dreams and self-confidence.

Does anybody really want to be known as someone who gets in the way of other people’s dreams? I don’t think anyone consciously wants to be a dream stealer and confidence killer but sometimes we can be so unaware if what we do or say due to our limited conditioning. Quite often someone may think they are being helpful by offering ‘constructive criticism’ but usually it’s done in a way that promotes themselves rather as someone who knows it all.As a teacher and a parent, I know the best results, always come from first lavishing praise and encouragement and then offering some suggestion or guidance.

Let’s make a positive impact on the planet by empowering others with encouragement, praise and positive words. Let’s first praise the people who come across our paths for the wonderful things they do and the courageous ways they seek to create a new path for themselves.

Take every opportunity to tell someone how awesome they are or how much you like what their way of thinking, or their new outfit, or their bravery for trying something new. Give them a little ‘Wahoo!’ ‘You go!’ or ‘You Rock!’ Little things like these empower people and increase their confidence. They’ll start to like you and trust you and turn to you in the moments when they need that constructive criticism in order to improve. As my daughter says, “Be nice!”

Not only does it empower the person you are praising but it will empower you. You will begin to feel like someone who uplifts and encourages others. This is a beautiful place to live from. This will raise your attractor factor. Nobody wants to associate with people who don’t celebrate them- unless their a masochist!

My friend, and celebrity life coach. Johnny Wimbrey says: ‘Hang around people who celebrate you not tolerate you!” There’s strength and power in the celebration and I know in my life I want more power so I need to give more of it away first.

Make a concerted effort today to encourage and praise others. If you know someone who has stepped out of the box to start something new support them. You might not like what they are doing, or think they’re not going to succeed. Who cares! You’re opinion doesn’t matter. All you need to do is to empower them to be great, and others will then start empowering you.

This time last year, I began to ask some serious questions. I was in a lot of pain. I was always someone who lived every day in a way that made it count. Life to me was so fulfilling and full of wonder and for some reason I let that stop. I stopped making it count, I stopped making every moment count. What happened as a result was the greatest pain I had ever experienced. I have been through broken relationships, scarred upbringing, physical pain, self-loathing issues and all the rest but none of this even compared to living my life in this black hole of nothingness. This black hole of getting caught in the motions and not making it count and not living up to my true potential.

It was a choice. But I chose to be less than what I was. I chose to not live my life on purpose and I chose to run from my true purpose in life, through fear and self-doubt. With that came so many issues and problems, wake up calls from the Universe to get the big picture. Finally I got it and I asked the question ‘What is it I have to do?’ It was burning inside of me and I knew I was destined to do much better things. I just knew that I couldn’t have had almost 10 amazing years traveling the world and learning so much for it all to be for nothing. I finally understood that the Universe wanted me to do something with all of that knowledge, which I had been denying. I knew it was time for me to do it or I was going to keep suffering.

With that one question, came so many answers and 2009 became a year of incredible growth and preparation. When you ask the right questions you will get the right answers. If you are willing to say ‘Yes, I accept, I will do whatever it is I came here to do, and whatever it takes to do it‘ then you will tap into a powerful force of life.

When you do not live your full potential, when are not walking the path of your destiny, you cut yourself off from life. Underneath these ‘human being’ bodies of ours lies a powerful life force; each of ours is unique, as each of us has a special task to do through the life force. This life power is here to fuel our purpose, and if you aren’t living on purpose you are cut off from the true power of life. So much suffering comes as a result which appears in many different forms. These are all wake up calls for you.

In 2009, I began to learn that I am so much more. I moved back onto my path and my life is so empowered once again. It’s frightening to step outside of your comfort zone to be more, but I know that it is more painful not to. 2010 is the year that counts. What is 2010 going to mean for you? Is it the year that you ask the right questions, to learn and discover that you are worth so much more?  To learn that you have unlimited potential, that you have something so unique and worthwhile to contribute.

Make 2010 count. Make each moment, each day count. Why else are you here? To be sad, to be miserable, to be surrounded by problems that never end? Think about how ridiculous that sounds. That is not living, that is not why we are born. It is not in our nature to live this way.  This only happens when we don’t make our lives count. Make the decision,as 2009 comes to a close, to make 2010 count.

Forget the New Year’s resolutions. They rarely work. All you need to do is to commit to making it count. When you focus your life in this way, incredible things will happen for you. There’s no need to make resolutions as you will be in the flow of life’s power. You are worthy, you are powerful and you are good. Allow yourself the space to be free and to be who you really are. You have nothing to fear and everything to gain.

Make it count. 2010 is your year, make it count!

Sitting in Starbucks this afternoon my eyes were drawn to a quote painted on a snowflake on the wall. Starbucks’ walls are currently lined with snowflakes with creative Christmas wishes and quotes written inside them. This one in particular drew my attention for reflection and served as a beautiful reminder to me of something that is so easy to forget. It read:

‘I wish everyone could see how much we all have in common’

To me this statement seems so obvious and true and so dear to my heart, but I know  to many it is not. Actually most With a Zulu Warriorpeople tend to view the world in terms of differences. That is why there is so much hatred, so much violence and sadness that surrounds us each day. It’s viewing the world through the eyes of difference that allows the disease of hatred and fear to be born and grow.

Viewing the world through the eyes of commonality makes our planet such a beautiful place to live. Would you be less likely to lash out and hurt another if all you saw was how they were just like you? I’m sure your hand would quickly retreat and your hurtful words would remain stuck on your tongue if you did.

Sure there are many differences that exist between us all but is this what’s important? Is this what we should focus on and focus on it only in a bad way? How about we instead celebrate the differences and open our hearts to perhaps learn something from another person who may think a little differently than you and enrich your life because of it.  Tremendous value would be added to your life as a result of you being able to experience briefly the many different flavours of life.

With My Thai StudentsDifferences amongst us all are there for this reason, not to make us feel afraid or inferior. It’s not better or worse it is just different. Understanding this is the underlying foundation for building tolerance. And when you build tolerance, peace, love and acceptance exist and can thrive in abundance. Doesn’t this make for a better world?

The greatest lesson of my life was for me to travel and experience the world. Before that I was ignorant to it, and so afraid of the differences between us all. I viewed the world through these eyes and my world, consequently, was so small. When I began to open up and see the world through the many different colored eyes of belief and experience, life became one magnificent kaleidoscope. I could see me reflected in others and they in me.  Peace took root in my heart and began to grow.

When I began to view life through the eyes of what we have in common it became so beautiful. I fell in love with life and became so fulfilled by it. I saw how no matter where in the world I was people still laughed at the same things, cried in the same way, had similar traditions, loved deeply and celebrated passionately. At first it surprised me at just how alike we all were and this in itself is surprising to me now.  I discovered it was just the minute details that were different; the truths were always the same. Our bodies are made of the same stuff and underneath that all lies the pure power and essence from which we all come.Long Haired Ladies in China

The next time you meet someone for the first time look deeply into their soul and see just how alike they are to you. Open your heart to it and you will feel it with such clarity.  The differences are so insignificant yet they are there to be embraced. It doesn’t mean you have to change who you are, think like them, feel afraid or inferior; you just have to be open to accepting and loving just how fascinating they and their differences are. Just like you…
